Youth & Family Circle Inc. Awarded $125,000 American Rescue Plan Community Partner Grant from Saint Paul Public Schools

March 16, 2023—Saint Paul Public Schools has awarded $125,000 to Youth & Family Circle Inc. for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24, as well as the summers of 2023 and 2024. The grant aims to work with community partners to provide academic, social, emotional and family support. Youth & Family Circle Inc. is well-positioned to provide partnerships with families and community resources.

 

According to Youth & Family Circle’s Executive Director, Mahmud Kanyare, “We at YFC are excited at the opportunities this funding provides. This funding will continue our outreach within the SPPS system, allowing YFC staff to help more students with their academic, social, and emotional needs.” 

 

Youth & Family Circle will meet the following Saint Paul Public Schools’ priority areas  through the provision of this grant include:

  1. In-school mental health and Social Emotional Learning and support for students.
  2. In-school and school-aligned family support.
  3. In-school student academic support.
  4. Community-based Out of School Time programs serving SPPS students. 

 

Youth & Family Circle Inc. was established in 2010 to focus on providing services to children and families, including summer camps, support groups, seminars, and educational events. Youth & Family Circle serves immigrants new to Minnesota and the United States, mainly East African migrants who may be low-income and below the poverty level. In addition, youth & Family Circle operates a learning center to provide tutoring and mentorship to students.
